During May 2016, members of the Santa Fe Opera Club made a trip to Wilmington, Delaware, to attend OperaDelaware and visit various attractions specific to the area.
(notes and pictures by Nancy Lutz)
The Grand (opera house) had columns, not of marble but painted steel.
We saw two operas: Hamlet and Falstaff,
which were very well produced.
Our visits included Hagley, where black powder was developed by the duPonts using water power.
Next we went to Longwood Gardens where the fountains were beautiful as well as the flowers.
We were treated to an organ demonstration complete with an electronic display.
